Trifox gameplay1/9/2023 ![]() Each of these worlds will have its own unique visual approach, enemies and bosses to defeat. While not much is known about the story so far (I doubt a lot of people play this genre for the compelling dialogues) it does seem to follow the trope of an evildoer that needs to be defeated and our hero having to visit different worlds to do so. The announcement trailer does a good job at explaining this: ![]() Each playstyle has its own strengths and weaknesses but if you’re so inclined you’re free to combine the abilities from these classes to create a loadout that suits you. Our namesake fox is just multitalented and can choose between three different classes: Engineer, Mage or Warrior. While the title may have you believe we’re dealing with three foxes, the game only has a single protagonist. ![]() Visually, the game is likely to appeal to both young new players and nostalgic fans of the old-school titles we grew up with and which are now making a return. It also gives you a nice overview of the action and the colorful world. You’ll notice the typical top-down perspective which is often used in the twin-stick shooter genre. Inspired by the approachable aesthetics of classic 3D platformers and action-adventures like Crash Bandicoot & Spyro the Dragon, Trifox combines the gameplay from these genres and adds some fun twin-stick shooting into the mix. First off, we have the twin-stick action-adventure, Trifox, which is made by (the ironically three-headed) Glowfish Interactive and was also nominated for this year’s Belgian Game Awards in the Most Anticipated category. Trifox will launch early next month on the Switch eShop for $19.99 (or its regional variant) and will be subject to a 10% launch discount for a limited time. With this new monthly feature, I intend to spotlight some Indiegames that deserve a bit of extra attention. And hey, you can never have too many fox-themed games to play at once, right? – A modern retro adventure: A fresh new experience designed to evoke the spirit of classic 3D platformers!Īlthough the gameplay seems a little bit chaotic (who would have thought explosions and magic could have such an effect?) we’re intrigued by the mix of 3D platforming and top-down shooter aesthetics. – Four worlds to conquer: Fight hordes of enemies, traverse platforming traps, overcome environmental puzzles, and battle big angry bosses! – 30 skills to unlock: Collect and spend coins to get new skills like Spike Slam, Shield Bubble, Guided Missile and many more! – Mix and match styles: Customize your Trifox by combining different class-based abilities! Do you want to cast spells and fire a Gatling gun? No problem! – Three different classes: Wield a giant hammer like a warrior! Master magic and mystery like a magician! Wear a backpack full of gadgets as an engineer! Seeing the little fox running around causing explosions feels distinctly Ratchet & Clank-ian if you ask us, and it’ll be nice to see a Nintendo console get in on the fun.įor a full range of what Trifox has in store, check out the list of features below: The game looks set to offer you a number of different paths of attack (as seen in the trailer above), letting you choose between defeating your enemies with magic, gadgets, or a massive hammer. October 13a full day earlier than other consoles!Įvery great hero needs a relatable driving force, like a stolen princess or a dead dog (two somewhat disparate examples, but you get the picture).
